MOJA Benefit Concert for the North Minneapolis tornado

(from the facebook event page)
MOJA, the first of a series of concerts we will be hosting to enable us to expand our relief effort operations on the ground in the North Minneapolis disaster zones. As many of you may or may not know, we have been a first responder and went active within an hour of the May 22nd Tornado touching down in N. Minneapolis.

Ever since, we have continuously provided relief and support round the clock without any donor backing or funding. Just hand outs from well wishers. As days go by, the needs of the people on the ground are increasing as the humanitarian crisis worsens. While we have the manpower, we have no resources to back up our operations on the ground, no office, no transportation e.t.c. We have applied for several grants but have been turned down ..

Instead of giving up, we have decided to create our own path and try to generate revenue for our operations, while still reaching out to the major foundations and well wishers with the hope they can help us expand our operations since our workload has trippled. This should not be hard, bearing in mind the widely successful Super Saturday event that we hosted with no backing but brought in 14,000 pounds of food and Hygiene products in a 12 hr period that were delivered to disaster zone residents within 48hours.

This is all part of our INSTANT IMPACT motto whereby as soon as we have resources, we effect them ASAP. The University of Minnesota Institute of Advanced Studies has graciously donated to us a grant to enable us to put together Moja.

Moja is a swahili term for One. We are simply naming the concert one since it is all about unity and coming together for a cause. Below is more info:
